The Battle of Normandy is the name given to.

By the Cuban Missile Crisis it was clear that Russia in any war would have to resort to nuclear weapons to be able to compete with Allied technology at that time. D-Day, and continued until Allied forces crossed the River Seine on August 19th. The fact that it never became hot was due more to the lack of a Russian atomic bomb in the early part, rather than any skill on the Allies part. The 4th Infantry Division did not meet all of their D-Day objectives at Utah Beach, partly because they had arrived too far to the south, but they landed 21,000. It was a war with Russia by another name. Especially when they had so many trained men and materials which could have been used to stop the Russians sweeping the majority of Eastern Europe into their grasp. Why did conflict happen There were many reasons for conflict in WWII. The Allied countries worked together to storm five beachheads in Normandy, France. Although the weather did have some affect and on the Allies ability to attack, it also caused the Germans to think that no attack was coming. For D-day the Allies had one goal in common with each other to take France back. General Eisenhower finally agreed to attack despite the overcast skies.

It is sad though that it took so long for the Allies to face the Russians after WWII. The purpose was to end World War II and the Nazi domination of Europe. In May 1944, the Western Allies were finally prepared to deliver their greatest blow of the war, the long-delayed, cross-channel invasion of northern France, code-named Overlord. Therefore the US and England never had to face up to their mistakes. The saviour of the Allies at that time was that they were the only ones with atomic weapons. By being a bit more cold shouldery to Russia, it is doubtful that Russia would have been in such a strong position as it was. The Cold War actually proves it didn't quite work that way.
